Polymer stability study

Polymer stability study

We provide support of stability test, evaluation, and applications for polymer based on our extensive experience and knowledge.

Correspondence for CSCL / Polymer Flow Scheme

We have over 1,000 extensive experience in the Polymer Flow Scheme*1 compliance with the Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture, etc. (Chemical Substances Control Law, CSCL).
We also cover technical consulting and consultations with the authority for the application, as well as applications for CSCL and polymers of low concern.

*1:In the polymer flow scheme, the following tests are performed

  1. Stability test in acid and alkali
  2. Solubility test in water and organic solvents
  3. Molecular weight distribution measurement (GPC, etc.)

Application of CSCL for Polymer Containing 1% or More of Low-Molecular Weight Components

CSCL was amended in 2010 to enable applications using results of polymer flow schemes and bioaccumulation in fish for polymer*2 that contain high levels of low-molecular weight components.

In addition to the polymer flow scheme, we provide total support for bioaccumulation in fish and final applications.

*2:Polymers which the content of components with molecular weights of less than 1,000 is 1% or more are applicable.

Correspondence for overseas legal regulations

Applications for polymer to chemical substances control law in other countries require results of molecular weight measurement and stability test in acid and alkali.

We propose data collection plan tailored to the country of application, and also support application to each country, maintenance of registration after completion of the application.

Sample check service

We conduct screening checks for the stability and solubility of polymer for applications compliance with various legal regulations.
For example, the stability and solubility of multiple samples in the early stages of development verify with minimal test configurations as desired.
We provide support in the product development according to the launch project, such as proposing an application method that matches the test results.

Our Environmental, Health and Safety Assessment Center*3 is a contract research organization for a project commissioned by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry / 2016 fiscal chemical safety measures (research and study on evaluation method of the polymer) (project completed in March 2017). In this project, we examined the applicability of the 2% rule in Japan, the survey of evaluation methods for polymer in other countries, and the rationalization of polymer flow schemes.

*In other countries, it is generally accepted that the addition of 2% of different monomers to a polymer is regarded as the same compound.
