GPS/JIPS
This is an international Chemical Management Support strategy promoted by the ICCA (International Council of Chemical Associations) for the achievement of the target in WSSD (World Summit on Sustainable Development) in 2020. In Japan, the JIPS (Japan Initiative of Product Stewardship) is promoted by the Japan Chemical Industry Association.
Risk assessment will be conducted for substances with commercial distribution or transport quantity of 1 t per year per company or more (as well as some substances at or below 1 t per year per company) based on hazard information, such as toxicity, and information on exposure and the purpose of use with consideration for the lifecycle of products from manufacture to disposal.
Based on the assessment results, appropriate control will be implemented for the safety of workers, protection of consumers, and a reduction in the impact on environmental organisms, and the results will be summarized in GPS safety summary and released to the general public.
